Hello there!

At DVB we simply aspire to be your very own ‘Home Brewery’ by creating the kind of damn fine beer that delivers mouth parties at your place.

We spend our waking hours taking a second look at what defines a traditional style, and from there, we give the recipe boundaries a bit of a nudge. Yeah sure it might not please the Purity Police, and for that, trophies for “correctness” may elude us.

Keep this to yourselves… but actually, we’re good with that.

Remember that Beer is about Friends, Family and Fun.

Some New Shiny Stuff! (Brewers Guild NZ Awards 2022)

In case you were wondering, here are the results from our entries in the Brewers Guild of New Zealand ! Each of these are monumental achievements to us. You may or may not know, but we do all of our own packaging design, illustrations and graphic design in-house! We are a small team for what we produce and all wear many hats. For us to be achieving each area of the business we are responsible for and to manage to present the best packaging in Aotearoa is truly a dream come true. We love our brew team so much and just want to match the deliciousness on the inside of the can with it’s characters on the outside! Every beer we brew is carefully put together with intentions of exploration, pushing boundaries and making sure that there is something pushing our comfort zones in our craft. Sometimes the gold medals elude us due to us pushing a bit far outside the style guidelines but we are ok with that as long as the quality and love are there! The main thing we should focus on here is our support. Whanau, friends, and YOU, who have kept the cogs turning through these crazy couple of years. Thank you so much for being a part of our community and DVB Whanau ❤

What’s Shakin’?

Let’s be honest, a few of years ago, this was just four dudes trying to figure out where we stand in Craft and what we want to bring to the table. Though we are still refining that every day, we can say this much:

1) We want to make Craft Beer more Accessible. To some, that means financially, which is why we try and be competitive even though it costs us more versus the bigger breweries that get supplied greater volumes of everything. Economies of scale and that.

To the vast majority of Craft Beer drinkers though, we want this to be less pretentious. We feel as though if you want to dive into hop addition timings and IBUs, hell yes, let’s have that convo, but if you’re just appreciating the flavour and that it’s a Mouth Party, enjoy and we won’t shun you for not knowing the chemistry. When you are ready, you will fire up that google search and away you go.

The final point we really want to hammer home away from pretentiousness is that Craft Beer (Well, ours anyways…) is for everyone. Every culture, race, gender, or non-gender-binary human has some sort of relation to the art of fermentation and damn it we want to figure out what that is and have a chat. Even if you’re not into alcohol, fermentation has been a part of humanity for thousands of years!

2) Let’s build community! We are starting with our local Miramar community and are trying to figure out how to do it further and further from home with establishments and events in the industry. We want everyone to use these places as networking hubs to build relationships over a pint. Be it your local crafty pub, restaurants, or events that bring people together. We want to back those humans to do good by everyone.

3) How about enjoying this roller coaster of a ride? We are a small business and not to say this is a job now, but yea, it is. This used to be our hobby and became our career. It’s pretty easy to just get focused on what’s right for the business but there have to be ways we can focus on having a bit of fun too. After all, if you’re making beer and not having a good time… something has to be wrong.
